WOODEN DOLL,LATE 18TH CENTURY,IN ORIGINAL COSTUME,
7" (43 cm.) One-piece carved wooden head and torso with egg-shaped head,strong throat,slightly shaped bosom,tapered waist,flat back,simply-carved legs with dowel-jointing at hips and knees,cloth upper arms,wooden lower arms with tine-shaped fingers. The doll has oil-painted over gesso complexion,black enamel oval-shaped eyes with dot-outlined lashes,dot-fringed brows,prim closed mouth,blush spots on cheeks,nicely-shaped ears,and original hand-tied human hair wig. Condition: generally excellent,small paint rub on nose.
English,late 18th century. Value Points: beautifully preserved,the doll wears her entirely original gown ,homespun petticoat.
