A beautiful and rare matching pair of large antique French hand-colored lithographs titled “Le Petit Raphael” and “C’est mon bebe”, published in Paris by Gosselin (editeur et imprimeur, rue Saint-Jacques, 71), dating to circa 1850.

Both prints belong to the same decorative series devoted to the theme of idealized childhood, executed in the refined romantic style inspired by Renaissance models, often described as “Raphaelesque.” The compositions feature delicately modeled children with soft expressions and finely detailed costumes.
• Le Petit Raphael depicts a child gently painting a Polichinelle figure, symbolizing artistic sensibility and refinement.
• C’est mon bébé presents a young girl caring for her doll, illustrating the 19th-century concept of early nurturing and childhood innocence.
