German porcelain doll, circa 1870, 17 inches.

The model known as the "Biedermeier" is uniquely designed for use with wigs.

The doll is designed with a solid-domed shoulderhead, the rounded pate painted as a black skullcap, supposedly to designate the placement of the wig.

The complexion is slightly rose-tinted, ears are fully-modelled. Blue upward glancing eyes. The doll has old muslin body with porcelain arms and legs.

She is wearing original cotton dress and underwear.
Height. 11.5" (29cm) approx.
