Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, slightly-parted lips with double row of teeth, outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso with full-length skirt that encloses clockwork mechanism, with sateen skirt cover, hidden wheels at the base.
When wound, the doll glides, revolves, and moves arms up and down while crying mama.


15 (38 cm.) tall.
Condition: generally excellent,mechanism functions well.

Marks: Poupee Magasin des Enfants Passage de L'Opera Paris (stamp on skirt).
France, Jules Steiner,1867. His early deposed model,when wound,the lady glides and twirls in a waltz-like and elegant manner.
Very beautiful example of the classic early poupee with signed body, boutique label,wearing superb early gown and undergarments.
