Very beautiful antique german bisque head child doll by Franz Schmidt 293, in original dress, for french market. The dolls were bought from Franz Schmidt (a German company) by a French store which made the costumes and sold them as a store exclusive. Based on the marks on the heads they are antique dolls made in the late 1890's up to 1902.

Head Mark: S&C 293 2/0 DEP
The SC mark is for Schmidt & Company and was used until 1902 when Franz became the sole owner and the mark was changed to FS & Co.
The bisque heads are perfect with no chips, cracks or repairs. The bodies are in good condition with no crazing, chips repairs or repaint.
