Solid domed paper-mache shoulder head with painted black pate under elaborate coiffure including real hair, oval face, elongated strong throat, black enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, accented nostrils, open mouth with two rows of tiny teeth, sculpted ears, original unused papier-mache body covered muslin with shapely torso, wooden hands. The doll features a rare mechanism with a cord built into its leg, allowing the doll to raise its arms when the cord is pulled.

The doll wears very elaborate costume of the region of Arles,France including elaborate coiffe and jewelry, original kidskin slippers.

Condition: generally excellent.
