Bisque socket head, blue glass sleep eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth modeled as though open with laughing expression, shaded lips, two beaded upper teeth, auburn human hair in bobbed fashion, French composition and wooden fully-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing.
Excellent detail of modeling including laughter lines and dimples, choice bisque, original body and body finish, wonderful antique original costume, underwear, socks and shoes, funny donkey hat. The donkey hat (french Bonnet d'ane) originated in French classrooms. Back in the 19th and early 20th century teachers would make pupils wear a special hat as punishment for mischief or poor results at a test or other school work. 20" (51cm) tall Condition: generally excellent.
