An exceptionally decorative dress made of fine ivory-toned tulle, lavishly embellished with intricate corded hand made embroidery and matching passementerie trim. The ornamentation is especially striking on the wide skirt, where the dense applied cord forms large stylized floral and geometric motifs, creating an almost lace-like relief effect.

The fitted bodice beautifully defines the silhouette and is richly adorned with the same corded decoration. The deep rounded neckline is framed by a soft ruffle of antique tulle, while the short sleeves are finished with airy layered tulle flounces. The front of the bodice is enhanced by delicate draping and a small decorative clasp.

The skirt is particularly attractive and complex in construction: the central panel is left lighter and more transparent, while the side sections and hem are richly covered with elaborate embroidery. Long silky tassels at the sides further emphasize the dress’s elegant and theatrical character. At the back, the dress is finished with a large bow with long trailing ends outlined in wavy cord trim.

The contrast between the airy tulle and the almost architectural corded ornament gives this dress an exceptionally refined presence. It is exactly the kind of miniature haute couture created for luxurious French fashion dolls of the Second Empire period.

The dress retains beautiful antique character and a lovely patina of age. There are natural signs of wear and some age-related damage to the delicate tulle, visible in the photographs, but these do not detract from its rarity or decorative appeal.
