The Scottish style costume of richly woven linen/wool in vibrant blue, red and green colors comprises gown with wide skirt below a fitted waist, lantern-shaped box pleated pouf sleeves, rounded neckline, closure at the back with hook and eye.
Included with the ensemble is a matching black tulle cape decorayted with tiny velvet bows, trimmed with silk black ribbon and black silk & velvet hat with sequins and beads embroidery. Very fine condition to age. Probably from the house of Huret or Mme. Bereux. Circa 1860. This ensemble has french presentation box of Grand Magasin de La Samaritaine, Paris. Measures 12 /2" (32cm) length, 4 1/2 (12cm) shoulders, 2 1/2" (7cm) sleeve, 7 1/2" (19cm) waist. The hat 2" (5cnm) wide inside. To fit Huret style poupee 16"-17" (40-43 cm). ------------------------------------ I DO A LAYAWAY.
