Wonderful original hatbox with small red woolen wire framed bonnet. This hatbox is miniature of the hatboxes that French woman used to store their hats in the 1860 period.
Made from wood that has been steamed and shaped into an oval, tiny nails were used to hold the form. The oval lid is original and fits nicely and was made in the same way.
The box covered inside with original red dotted paper. The top of the box has a type of black oilcloth applied to the lid .
Overall very good condition with normal signs of age. One leather strap is missing.

An original small woolen wire framed bonnet decorated with silk, good condition to age, some mole holes.

Measures
The box 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"x 2 1/2" tall
the hat about 2" (5 cm) wide inside, 3 1/4 (8,5 cm) height.
