Bisque socket head with very plump cheeks, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, rose blushed eye shadow, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the accented lips, impressed dimples at philtrum and lip corners, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, Steiner composition fully-jointed body with straight wrists.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 89 (impressed) Au Defi 68 Rue Thiers 68 Marseille (red stamp on head).

Phenix Star model by Jules Steiner successors, circa 1895, the bebe was commissioned and costumed exclusively for the Au Defi doll boutique in Marseille.
Very beautiful wide-eyed bebe has flawless bisque, original body and body finish, wearing superb dress of antique pink silk, leather shoes, original hat, underwear,socks.
