Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with very pale complexion, dreamily-modeled heavy eyelids with thick black upper eyeliner, painted blue eyes with upper glancing pupils, painted lashes, delicately feathered brows, accented nostrils of finely-shaped nose, closed mouth with outlined lips, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing, bisque arms to above the elbows with well-defined hands.
Condition: generally excellent. French, circa 1866, mystery maker, the model may have been designed for exhibition at the 1867 Paris International Exposition; another model is not known to exist. Value Points: the very rare doll has exquisite portrait-like features, dreamy expression achieved by eye modeling and painting, choice bisque, original elaborate wig, rare body style, superb original costume, undergarments, leather shoes, bonnet and jewelry. ------------------------------------ I DO A LAYAWAY.
