RARE ENGLISH BRASS PATENTED NEEDLE CASE

A very rare fashion doll accessory a pressed gilt brass Avery style needle packet case The Gem by Patent Perry and Co., London, concertina form, floral covers.
Wonderful book-shaped case with gilt finish unfolds six brass envelopes for holding needles.
Excellent condition. English,1867.
Measures 1 3/4 in x 1in (4.7 x 2.5 cm) unfolded.


Pressed brass book-shaped case with gilt finish unfolds six brass envelopes for holding needles. Named The Beatrice,the case was the first patented brass needle case, made by J.W. Lewis,Birmingham Jeweler and Goldsmiths,in 1867. Excellent condition. English,1867. The good thing about this lot is it still has 4 lots of needles intack as can be seen in photos along with the original box holder.
