Bebe Francaise, Emile Jumeau,circa 1892.
Rare model with pretty expression and bisque, original body and body finish, wearing nice antique silk&lace costume, bonnet, undergarments, leather shoes.

This rare and extraordinary doll is part of interesting history for the Jumeau firm. The original trade mark for the Bebe Francais was registered to Danel et Cie company in 1891, and was assumed by Jumeau after Emile-Louis Jumeau won his intellectual property suit against Danel for the theft of the mold for the Paris Bebe and after Jumeau went ahead and manufactured the doll of his own volition. Shops such as Au Nain Bleu sold the dolls, and they were a popular addition to the flourishing Jumeau line, but there were limited quantities of these beautiful Bebes produced, hence our excitement in introducing this girl to the market!
This wonderful French Bebe is exactly the same face as the Bebe Francais registered by Jumeau in 1896. Please refer to the photo on page 351 of the Jumeau Book by Francois Theimer and Florence Theriault for an exact look-alike. She has a sweet inquisitive expression with a pert smaller mouth and wide open eyes creating a wonderful heart-shaped face. She is beautifully dressed and would grace any collection of fine antique French Bebes!
