Very Rare French Bisque Bebe Modele by Leon Casimir Bru with Wooden-Articulated Body, 17" (42 cm.)

Very rare and beautiful Bru bebe with brevete model face,finest quality bisque and painting!
She has pressed bisque socket head,almond-shaped blue glass paperweight inset eyes,dark encircling eyeliner,painted lashes,mauve-blushed eye shadow,feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with defined space between the outlined pale lips,pierced ears with earring,original mohair wig over cork pate, French all-wooden full-articulated bebe body with jointed shoulder, elbows and wrists. She is also jointed at upper legs or hips (she can be seated), knees and ankles.
She is wearing absolutely stunning antique original peach silk satin dropwaist dress with lace and floweers decoration, antique original velvet hat, antique french leather shoes with doll mark on the sole, antique knitted socks, antique cottin underwear.
Back of head is incised Bru Jne 5.

GENERALLY EXCELLENT CONDITION! Few minor rubs on original body paint.

Leon Casimir Bru,the wooden-bodied bebe was made from 1878-1883 only, and although it was considered the apogee of his works,Bru never deposed the model. It is likely that the luxury nature of the pieces as well as their expensive production techniques made them available by custom order only,and,at any rate,few models exist today. A very rare, wonderful and unique bebe!
