Beautiful original antique French bonnet for a Bébé, dating from the late 19th century. The bonnet is made of delicate antique lace and tulle, richly gathered around the face, and adorned with a large pale pink silk satin bow.

The crown is especially lovely, with alternating panels of fine lace and net accented by decorative braided trim. The bonnet retains its original construction and wonderful authentic period character.

It has been carefully starched and holds its shape beautifully, preserving the full, elegant silhouette clearly visible in the photographs. The softly aged ivory tone of the lace and the slightly faded silk ribbon are very harmonious and entirely appropriate for its age.

A very elegant and increasingly rare original period accessory, perfect for completing the costume of a fine antique French bebe.

Condition:

excellent antique condition, especially considering the age and delicacy of the materials. The lace is remarkably well preserved, and the bonnet displays beautifully on an antique French Bebe. The silk bow shows some age-related fragility.
