A very beautiful and elaborate original antique doll dress, made of fine white cotton batiste and richly decorated with broderie anglaise, openwork inserts, and antique lace.
The dress features a particularly attractive and elaborate bodice with a high neckline, full short sleeves, and a wide cape-style collar of embroidered batiste. The front is decorated with vertical lace inserts threaded with pink silk ribbons, ending in large decorative bows. Matching bows adorn the shoulders. The neckline retains a delicate trim of tiny pink flowers. The dress closure at the back with pearl buttons. The skirt is equally beautiful: wide and full, with generous gathers, openwork inserts, and a magnificent embroidered scalloped border. The combination of crisp white batiste and soft pink silk gives the dress a wonderfully romantic and distinctly French character. Included is the original white cotton underskirt, also decorated with embroidery and openwork trim, which gives the dress additional volume and helps it retain its elegant shape. CONDITION: The dress remains in very attractive antique condition. There are normal signs of age and wear; the original silk ribbons show some light wear and fraying at the edges, entirely consistent with their age. A highly decorative authentic antique dress suitable for Jumeau, Steiner, Gaultier, Bru, or another French doll aboiut 25-26 in.
